We started our day on a serious high. First, who slep through the night? Yes! The little man slept all the way through last night and didn't come and stare into my sleeping face until 6:30am! YAY!!! He climbed his way up the bed and under the covers and snuggled between the two of us and fell back to sleep for 30 minutes. It was BLISS. I did wake up twice in the night, looked at his room and saw the door still closed. I knew he was asleep which made me so happy. So happy he was getting peaceful, uninterrupted rest. I am hopeful we have the same again tonight.
The phone rang at 7:03am which is a bit early for a call. On a Monday. I thought it was the alarm clock, and by the last few rings I looked at the caller ID and didn't recognize the number...there were LOTS of numbers so I was confused. Or maybe I just couldn't see clearly - regardless, I missed it. A message was left. E-man woke up and said, "what's that, mommy?" We listened to the message, the voice sounded familiar...it was to our surprise, Moses Kabugute from Kenya! Oh my! We were all sooo excited, I tried to redial, but nope - I couldn't. I asked E-man if he remembers Kabugute, and he said yes he did. He said, "come, mommy. I show you." So he took me downstairs, to the living room, to the table where there are pictures in pictures frames. He pointed to none other than, Kabugute. I said, "Yes baby! That's right! That's Kabugute!" He was the chaperon with the 3 boys from Kenya, part of the Daraja Children's Choir of Africa who stayed at our house 2 years ago for 16 days total that summer. Those are the boys who asked if they could call me "mum", who we fell in love with and were family for a summer with these boys. These are the boys that the Lord used to open our hearts and open the doors to us exploring adopting from Ethiopia. This is where this adoption journey began.
We chatted for just a bit, all of us together, exchanged quick updates of each of our families and promised to let Kabugute know when we received our referral and let him know when we would be in Ethiopia. He has been praying for us since he was here - he is a gem of a Christian man, a wonderful father and husband to his family and pastor to his church. We were so blessed by him.
My heart is full today. We all started this week and this Monday in a special way and we all have smiles at 7am! We have been blessed by a call from Kenya...thank you, dear friend. We love you. You can call anytime...anytime day or night.
