We Are On A Roll!

3 nights in a row!!! The little has slept through the night, not waking up, getting up or anything for the last 3 nights!  We are soooo excited! We don't know what we did, but what we have been doing, we are continuing to do. Granted, two of the three nights he went to bed a little later than normal, but that hasn't stopped him before from getting up out of bed multiple times a night.  We talked briefly this morning and said we feel one thing for sure and hope that it has played a part in his sleeping through the night...E-man seems more connected, less stressed, more empowered, and we have kept a regular schedule, regular routine... his circle has involved daddy and mommy and his dog.  There has been a lot of improvements this week and I hope that through what we have seen the last few nights, we may have found a formula that works for him??

We have had a nighttime routine for a while now...outside play, dinner, inside play, bath, book, prayers, bed. Every night. We also are making sure he has a snack before he goes to bed - a protein snack so his blood sugar doesn't spike in the middle of the night.  One of the foods he loves is PB&J.  He also loves to help make it. He sits on the counter, gets a spoon, and reaches into the jar to get a big spoonful of peanut butter and eats it.  To some parents, they may correct this - telling a child, no, don't do that.  But we are encouraging it.  That is a big bite of protein that this little body needs and if he can get it himself, well, we've just empowered him and given him something that he has control of.  (No worries - we have separate PB&J for company!) He feels satisfied for doing a task we allowed him to do, and he's eaten something nutritious at the same time.

I also found this neat (but annoying) ball at the store today for $5.  It is called a Fusion Ball.  It has an obnoxious music, but if you can get past that, the ball moves, jumps and has lights that go off. If you hold it, it shakes like crazy in your hands.  E-man gravitated right to it and played with it. Then as he played with it, he put it to his mouth...and it provided stimulation he was seeking.  So, not that I am a fan of loud toys, I am (so far) ok with this because of the sensory input E-man was getting from it. And he was having fun.  So for $5, why not try it?

Well, as much as I want to keep writing, my sewing machine is calling my name.  We are celebrating Will's birthday tomorrow - he has his annual conference with work and has a golf tournament to play in and decided he wanted to make a pair of pants into Payne Stewart style knickers. So I must go sew some elastic now.

We also have an appointment tomorrow morning for the little guy. Here's to another night of sleeping through the night for him...and hopefully I will too.
