I Drank The Crafting Kool Aid!

I drank the crafting kool aid today. Yes. I did. I don't have a CLUE what came over me or POSSESSED me to try and knock out a scrapbook AND a refrigerator hanger for Ethan's class tomorrow. I self inflict these projects...and at 9:30pm I wonder where the day went! But it was fun - Ethan had fun with all the paper, throwing it on the floor and wanting to glue everything under the sun too! It was fun for him and he got to feel all the different textures and see all the different colors too. It was a great sensory building activity for him. So why was I doing all this craziness in a day?

Ethan is learning the alphabet in preschool and  they are working on the letter A. Tuesday they learned about Apples, Alligators and Ants. His teachers asked me if I would come and talk to the kids about Africa! So, I said yes, I would share with the kids how we are introducing Ethan to Africa. Well, it got me to FINALLY put Ethan's book together. And then no project is complete without something to take home and remember what you learned about, right?

So here's a look at the craziness. Complete with Animals and coffee beans! (Can you tell we are working through some sensory issues?)

Did you know that there are two types of elephants? You can tell the African elephant by the shape of his ear - it looks like the outline of Africa! (I learned that at the zoo...pays to pay attention to the tram driver) :)

That is as far as I got in Ethan's book and figured that would suffice for my talk with the kids about Africa. Hopefully we can read the story of Philip and the Ethiopian some time too!

And the take home reminder of our lesson on Africa for 2 year olds!

So that was last night's post and I went and talked to these precious, precious 2 year olds today. They sat there oh so quietly, and listened...the LOVED the animals! They also like to feel the coffee beans...and my kiddo tried to eat them too. (I picked hazelnut so it hopefully wouldn't be too off-putting to the kiddos).  I also brought a coloring page of the outline of the continent of Africa for the kids to color. They enjoyed it and one little fella wrote a letter A on his page! Whoop Whoop!

I thanked the kids for their time, wished them a good afternoon, and promised my sweet boy I'd be back soon. As I left, the kids were all coloring away, and my precious babe, was having a complete meltdown with massive tears just rolling down his cheeks. My heart was breaking...
