Orphan Sunday

"Father to the fatherless, defender of widows— this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy." Psalm 68:5-6

Today is Orphan Sunday. There are 145,000,000 orphans in the world. and there are 2 Billion professed Christians on this earth. If only 7% of Christians responded...only 7%...that is a drop in the bucket - every orphan would have a home! Our heart breaks - because God's heart breaks for these orphans. God's heart is for the orphan...and we all need to respond. This is not about us...it's all about HIM. Our lives belong to God - they are not our own - we are here to do HIS will for our lives - not our will...He is our father who has adopted us - rescued us from our sin, and given us eternal life in Jesus. Thank you, Jesus for adopting us and rescuing us from condemnation through acceptance and faith in You.

We all wore our orphan awareness t-shirts to church...here is a cute one of Ethan that I took tonight.

He wore his shirt so proudly today - we talked to him all day about the significance of today...and we were able to participate via the web a worship service with Steven Curtis Chapman for orphan Sunday. It was really special and hit very close to home the burden that God has put on our hearts. Great music too! We love SCC...he is so talented and so humble!!

Check back tomorrow...I will finish this posting then! Have a wonderful evening.
