Tonight I finished my part of the home study self study...10 pages typed. Will has been tied up with work so he still has to answer the same questions - but we are half way done with the self study part. He about fell over when I told him it was 10 pages. He said "but you are long winded...mine will be half of that." We laughed!
We have been telling more people at church and friends that we are adopting again and this time from Ethiopia. We tell the reason and story over and over - and I know I keep repeating it here in each blog entry, and I will continue - orphan awareness will not stop - I will not stop - those children need love, they need care, they need a mommy and a daddy and a family. There are 145 Million orphans in this world - more people need to be a part of the solution.
I got to share our journey again this morning and then later I was reading another blog and I came across this post that we can so identify with. We know exactly how they feel - and so I am totally going to steal her post - I love what she had to say - we pray for this family and congratulate them on their calling. Here it is - (I changed the names to fit our family though)
"Life as a family of 3 is just awesome. E is a SON. I am a MOM. Will is a DAD. We feel happy. We feel full. We feel blessed beyond measure. Life is just really good, you know?
But sadly, there are still over 145,000,000 million children in this world who are sad. empty. left alone as orphans. Their lives are not so good, you know?
So we’re going to Africa…to Ethiopia. We can’t be a mom, dad, and brother to 145,000,000, but we can be those things to one little boy in Ethiopia. We can’t guarantee he’ll always feel happy, full, and blessed, but he’ll no longer be fatherless – and that’s a big deal. God desires it.
We’re not out to primarily expand our family, and we’re especially not out to be heroes. We just want to follow God in the burdens he’s placed in our hearts, and that burden for the fatherless is quite heavy.
We could really use your prayers – all FOUR of us."
Thank you, family adopting from Rwanda...thank you for your words that so perfectly say what it is our families are doing. God's blessings, and we are praying for all four of you.
