"LORD, you know the hopes of the helpless.
Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.
You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed,
so mere people can no longer terrify them." Psalm 10:17-18
David identifies with God's heart for the poor and oppressed. He affirms that God sees, cares, and will act in justice. Do you also see, care, and act for justice for anyone? Who around you might be, deep down, crying to God for hope and help? Ask God to open your eyes to anyone in need today, and show how you might offer help and hope. —Diane Eble, author of Abundant Gifts: A Daybook of Grace-Filled Devotions
That is my devotion for today. I also was filled with more HOPE today when I woke up. And two people have asked about our adoption who I NEVER would have expected to ask about it. And there is a pattern that families get calls on Wednesdays from the agencies. I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but a part of me is very hopeful that today is the day.
We have been catching up from being gone and preparing for Easter. E and I talk about Easter and what it means as we are playing. He can tell me that Easter is about God. This is how he tells me the story:
"Birds sing and flowers bloom. Some people didn't like Jesus so they put him on a cross. His friends, Mary, were very sad and they cried. They put Jesus in a tomb. He sat in there for 4 days. Then he came out and went up, up, up, up to God." I asked him why Jesus died. He said "uuummmmm.....so he can live and us too!" I think he may just get it!
So in preparation for Easter, we are reading the Easter story, still doing the resurrection eggs and he will do an Easter egg hunt so we had to have a basket. The basket I had last year, well...didn't make it. It broke apart when it was transformed into a "race car" and someone sat in it and the wicker fell to pieces.
So, I went to Target, looked at what they had, and settled on a tin pail for $5.
I looked at this, and looked, and the longer I looked the more my wheels were turning on how I could turn this plain pail, into something else. I stood there wishing I had one of those Cricut machines that cuts vinyl lettering...but I don't. But I did have an idea and hoped it would work. I think it did.
I am also working on cupcake toppers for the cupcakes for his birthday...along with a Happy Birthday sign/flag. Think paper and ribbons! I will post pictures of all of that later.
A request before I close. Please pray for all families adopting both domestically and Internationally. The journey is long, and God has the perfect plan for each family. Please pray that God's peace, mercy, grace and sustenance would fall fresh on all families. Waiting is difficult...it's long...and it's part of the journey to the great gift the Lord has for each of us.
Blessings for the rest of your week. This Holy of Holy Weeks.
