Resting in the Lord

Happy Friday! What are your plans for the weekend? It's quiet here as I type this...I have my iPod playing praise and worship music as I listen to the stillness and the silence of a quiet home. I am still fighting the terrible cold/flu bug - and I can't wait to be over it! I think I lost a lung earlier coughing! But I know that healing is just around the bend.

Have you ever heard of a silent retreat? I had not, until a very dear friend from church told us about it during our study of leading a contemplative life. There is such a retreat not too far away... Visitation Monastery and you can go and check into the convent for a weekend of silence. Silence and time to be spent just you and the Lord away from it all...all the distractions, all communication...everything. Laying your head in the Savior's lap and just spend time with him, in his word, being still. (You don't have to be Catholic to go)

I have an appointment with my Jesus this weekend. Just him and me...right here...in the stillness of my home. It won't be a silent retreat, but it will be as close to that as I can possibly get. I am excited and my heart is preparing for this time. I am de-cluttering my mind and preparing to listen, but to also pour out my heart to him and bask in the fullness that he will pour back into me.

We have an adoption seminar coming up next month on the 19th and I will be busy writing what the Lord has put on my heart to share with those attending. He's been giving me pieces, so I will be the vessel for his message about Love...for orphans and waiting children.  I am excited to see what He has to say. I love what He's already saying.

Please pray for our friends who are traveling to Ethiopia this weekend. They are going to pick up their two boys!!! We are soooo excited for them! Pray for this family as they are united, pray that the boys will learn to love and trust their new family and that they will love and trust their father in heaven...who is the father to the fatherless. We celebrate two children who have gone from orphans to sons.  Thank you, Jesus! I will miss their homecoming - I am really sad I will miss it...I will be traveling to Atlanta for the adoption momma's retreat! I am soooo excited for this! Will you pray for all the momma's at the retreat? We all need your prayers - and please pray for the speakers as they deliver God's message specifically prepared for each woman there? Thank you. Sounds like you may be joining me in my appointment with God this weekend! :)

God's blessings - remember above all things...God loves you more than anything. He created you. He loves you...you are his.
