The daddy is gone to a guys football outing to cheer on the Gators - so the little guy and I spent our morning working on some chores. We cleaned the house, did some laundry, and then we ventured out - not knowing where we were going. I took the advice of the 2 year old back seat driver when he said, "mommy, go that way!!" and I turned the direction he was wanting to go. We took a leisurely drive along the coast down Scenic 30A to see what was going on. Nothing too spectacular that would entertain a 2 year old. So we kept driving and I asked him if he wanted to have a picnic. The loud YES from the back seat along with the clapping of hands and HUGE smile, made me quickly turn into the Publix and we grabbed a couple of sandwiches and fruit.
We headed to Eden Gardens and parked the car and then walked hand in hand to the picnic tables near the bay. We didn't know we'd also get to see a wedding take place - it was beautiful and the weather perfect! We had our lunch, just my little man and me. He chatted away about all the things he wanted to go and see once he finished his lunch. The squirrels were FASCINATING to him. So of course I didn't have my camera, just the camera phone but I did get a couple of pictures.
After our lunch and walk through the gardens, we headed home for nap time. After nap time (which I might add was very short!), he hadn't had enough and quickly put on his shoes, went to the front door and said, "I want to go!" I asked where, and he just kept saying I want to go! This kiddo is all me. Never could sit in one place for very long, and always wanted to GO. Didn't matter where - just wanted to GO. So we went out and washed my car which needed it so badly after driving to TX.
Have you ever washed a car with a 2 year old? It was a lot of fun. He really got into it with the sponge and washing the car...then he had even more fun with the hose. Yes, the hose. He LOVED spraying mommy with the hose. It was funny, I ended up soaked, but you know, I really didn't care. The wide smile that emerged and the deep belly laughs from him was worth it all. We then hit golf balls, took a ride on the scooter (to me its a skateboard with handlebars and my legs are tired!), saw a deer in our backyard, played trucks and read books. The time we spent together - just BEING WITH was so fulfilling. For both of us. So even though he missed his daddy and kept saying "I want Daddy" every 10 minutes, we had a full day - just the two of us, unplugged from the rest of the world, and spending quality time together.
Our bond and attachment grows stronger and stronger every day. What really made my day, was the ending. As I was holding him before bed, he wrapped his arm around my neck and pulled me to him, our cheeks pressed against each other. He gently rolled his head, looked deep into my eyes and kissed me good night. Oh my heart! I treasure these moments for I know these days will soon be memories. But I will hold onto them for as long as I can and rejoice in the Lord for these precious, precious moments that he has given to us.

Nothing like poking the little statue guy in the eye!
Loved rocking in the rocking chair. The goal seemed to be to rock hard enough to hit the back wall of the historic home!
Just being so stinkin' cute!
